1 1/2 cups white sugar
3/4 cup fresh orange juice (about 3 oranges)
1 12-ounce package fresh cranberries, washed
1 Tablespoon grated orange zest (Grate an orange before squeezing.)
Combine sugar, orange juice, and cranberries in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until cranberries pop. (About 10 minutes) remove from heat, stir in orange zest. Cool completely. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Can be made up to three days ahead and stored, covered, in the refrigerator.

This sounds like exactly what we made on Thursday. Its kismet!
