If only vitamins were returnable… I think that we have tried out every brand of “allergy free” vitamins for kids that is on the market in the U.S. Until a couple of weeks ago, they all caused reactions.
A word of caution. One of the many, many brands was actually given to us by the GI clinic at our local children’s hospital. The bottle said it was soy free. The nurse had researched it and called the company who swore that it was soy free. Gave it to my daughter, she had a reaction. I called the company. They swore that their Vitamin E was not based on soy, and after much questioning they gave me the name of the company that supplies their Vitamin E. Five minutes on google established that the supplier’s Vitamin E was in fact made from soy. I called the vitamin company back and told them this and they said “Well, we can’t keep track of all the ingredients from all of our suppliers.” REALLY?? You can’t??
Sometimes no matter how much we research a product, it is not enough.
However, I am happy to report that we’ve found a new allergy free kids vitamin that actually seems to be, well, allergy free. I can’t guarantee that it will work for everyone, but so far so good with us. The only problem with them is they have no iron in them. For that we use Kirkmann capsules — they make tiny, easy to swallow ones that are only 5 mg of iron.
Yummi Bears Organics — free of top 8 allergens, GF/CF, and vegetable based food coloring — may not be appropriate for folks who are allergic to those veggies, but good for kids who are sensitive to dyes. Best of all — my kid actually likes them!
I’m surprised you did not call an attorney. They can’t keep tract?!?!? What?!?! They have no business selling products that are used for consumption especially when they are selling things as an allergen free product.
I’ve gone through anaphylactic shock. It took over a month before it was all out of my system. It was so bad that if I would have had even a little more I probably would have died.
Also coconut is good for you. It promotes a healthy metabolism and also promotes good HDL. Go look up the benefits its not what you have been propagandized to believe it is.
If you are really concerned about things like that you should be removing high fructose corn syrup from your families diet. As well as MSG which is what they give mice from birth to create an obese mouse. The mice also continue to gain weight even after treatments stop.
Sorry for the confusion, my daughter is allergic to coconut. Unfortunately, because, as you say, it is a very healthy food.
The label does state that it “May contain” Fract coconut oil. FYI
have you tried vitamin code for kids? it’s suppose to be soy free and it has iron, but is more expensive than the one you found. we just recently discovered my daughter is allergic to soy and we haven’t tried it yet personally.
Vitamin Code for Kids does NOT say it is soy-free, they say it is “Free of soy-allergens,” which is entirely different. I find that allergy “experts” claim that soy is safe for my daughter in various forms, and processed forms, when it is so processed that the soy protein is “almost entirely removed,” such as soy lecithin. My daughter’s itchy outh hive reactions tell me otherwise.
I just found your blog and I am so impressed. My 2 1/2 year old has a ton of allergies and is also Vitamin D deficient. I found JUST D, which is a very pure vitamin D. You should check it out.
Thanks so much.

The label does state that these may contain fractionated coconut oil.
Ingredients change all the time. When I wrote that two years ago, they didn’t contain coconut. Always check labels!
