The USDA now requires manufacturers to disclose the presence of tree nuts in normal English on food labels. However, since nuts are so allergenic and even a tiny amount can cause a reaction, you should always check with the manufacturer of a food to make sure there was no possibility of cross-contamination.

Tree nuts are often found in the following products:
- Marzipan/almond paste
- Nougat
- Artificial nuts
- Nut butters (such as cashew butter and almond butter)
- Nut oil (both edible and in lotions, shampoos, etc.)
- Nut extracts (such as almond extract)
- Nut milks (almond milk)
- Pesto
- “Creamy” vegan soups are often made with almonds
