Peanut Allergen List

Foods to avoid:

  • Artificial nuts

  • Beer nuts

  • Ground nuts

  • Mixed nuts

  • Monkey nuts

  • Cold pressed, expelled or extruded peanut oil or arachis oil

  • Goobers

  • Mandelonas

  • Peanuts, peanut butter, peanut flour

  • Thai foods such as Pad Thai or Satay

  • Chineese foods often use peanuts as an ingredient or fry in peanut oil.  Egg rolls are often “glued” together with peanut butter

  • African foods

  • Indonesian foods·

  • Vietnameese foods

  • Chili sometimes has peanut butter in it as a thickener

  • Meuslei

  • Breakfast bars or energy bars

  • Enchilada sauce

  • Sweets such as marzipan; nougat, ice cream, and chocolate

  • Food additive 322

  • Natural flavoring

Because peanut allergies can be so severe, it is important to avoid any foods that may be cross-contaminated with peanut protein.   Any pre-packaged foods should come from a peanut-free facility.

    • If it is from a peanut-free facility, it will say on the label. This is a major selling point for the product.

      The FDA does not require companies to disclose if there is peanut (or other allergen) use in a facility. Some companies voluntarily put it on their labels, others do not. It is usually under the ingredients, and under the required allergen warning.
